Jose Antonio has earned a B.S. in Biology, an M.S. in Exercise Physiology and a Ph.D. in Muscle Physiology. He also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism. After leaving academia Jose gained a position with nutrition products leader MET-Rx. CARLA SANCHEZ
After graduating from The Colorado College, Carla Sanchez (B.A. psychology, Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach, NSCA) worked as an Aquatics Director, a Recreation Specialist, a Fitness Director, a Denver Bronco's Cheerleader, and a Strength and Conditioning Coach. In 1997, Carla competed in her first NPC fitness competition, placing second. A few months later she received IFBB professional status by placing second at the NPC USA National Championships. In August 2000, Carla founded Performance Ready, LLC, and formed The Performance Ready Fitness and Figure Team. She continues to both compete and inspire others to follow their own personal fitness dreams.

Eric Broser has been involved in the fitness industry for over 20 years. He is an NGA natural professional bodybuilder and judge. He is a monthly columnist for both Muscular Development (“No Juice Bodybuilding”) and Iron Man (“Muscle In-Sites” and “Net Results”) magazine, and has had over 40 articles published on weight training. RAPHAEL CALZADILLA
As Chief Fitness Pro for eDiets.com, Raphael is responsible for developing and maintaining personalized fitness programs for the eDiets online community. Raphael is a “virtual personal trainer” helping members integrate custom exercise programs into their daily routine so they can reach their health and wellness goals. Joel is an educator, strength coach and bodybuilder. He earned his Master’s Degree from Auburn University where he met Dr. Jose Antonio. Joel is a past winner of the 1985 Southern States Bodybuilding Championships Light Weight Open Division and the 2006 Southern States Bodybuilding Champions Light Weight Over 40 Division. He has won various teaching awards such as Teacher of the Year (1999-2000) at McArthur High School, the Deaver Award (2003-2004) at Archbishop McCarthy High School and John 13 Award (2006-2007) for Broward County, FL. Abbie Smith is a doctoral candidate at the University of Oklahoma where she co-coordinates the Metabolic and Body Composition Laboratory. She received her B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from Truman State University, and her Masters at the University of Oklahoma. Abbie is currently studying under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey R. Stout, where her research is focused on nutritional and training interventions to improve performance, general health and body composition. She has contributed to the scientific community at the NSCA and ACSM since 2005 and continues to share the latest research through her column in the Sports Nutrition Insider, scholastic books and through various peer-reviewed journals.
